Excerpted from his eponymous collection in English, Ideas to Postpone the End of the World was originally a lecture by Brazilian Indigenous activist and philosopher Ailton Krenak delivered at the University of Lisbon’s Institute of Social Sciences in 2019. Krenak delves into the historical construction of notions of humanity, criticising the Eurocentric idea of enlightenment and civilisation, and explores the impact of modernisation, corporate sustainability, and the erosion of indigenous cultures.
