We are pleased to announce the seventh in our series of talks analysing and contextualising exhibitions through the personal accounts of the curators responsible, co-organised with the Whitechapel Gallery in London. On Thursday 18 September 2014 Helmut Draxler will be in conversation with Afterall’s Helena Vilalta.

Public presentation of the working-group discussions at the opening of ‘Services: The Conditions and Relations of Service Provision in Contemporary Project Oriented Artistic Practice’, Kunstraum of Lüneburg University, 22—23 January 1994, video still. Each talk takes the form of a focused discussion between a member of the Afterall or Whitechapel Gallery team and the curator of an exhibition or series of exhibitions. Helmut Draxler will discuss his project ‘Services: The Conditions and Relations of Service Provision in Contemporary Project Orientated Artistic Practice’ (1994–7), a series of exhibition-events developed in collaboration with Andrea Fraser to address the material conditions of artistic labour. Following a presentation of the project, Draxler will be joined in conversation with Helena Vilalta.
