Liu Ding delivers the paper, ‘I Simply Appear in the Company of...’

Liu Ding delivers the paper, ‘I Simply Appear in the Company of…’ as a part of the ‘Artists as Curator: Collaborative Practices’ symposium at the Whitechapel Gallery, 19 April 2013.

Liu Ding will explore in this presentation the notions of ‘curating from an artist’s perspective’ and ‘curating as a backstage activity’, relating how the works, thinking, opinions and experiences of other artistic practitioners are engaged in their own artworks and how his work appears in the company of other artworks in exhibitions he has curated. Liu Ding will also discuss strategies of engagement with art histories, exhibition research, space design, choice of artworks and publishing as an artistic practice.
