On Thursday 11 April, Lucy Lippard joined Afterall’s Lucy Steeds for the second in our series of talks analysing and contextualising exhibitions through the personal accounts of the curators responsible for them.

Lippard and Steeds focused on art outside of museums, looking at the exhibitions ‘557,087’ and ‘955,000’ (from Lippard's seminal ‘numbers shows’, 1969–74) as well as ‘Weather Report: Art and Climate Change’ (2007).

The event was also the UK launch of From Conceptualism to Feminism: Lucy Lippard’s Numbers Shows 1969–74, the third in Afterall's Exhibition Histories book series.

This events series is a collaboration with the Whitechapel Gallery, London and part of the Exhibition Histories research and publication project, developed by Afterall in association with the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna; the Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College; and Van Abbemuseum.
