‘Global Indigenous?’ Charles Esche, Gerald McMaster and Wanda Nanibush in conversation

Please join us at the University of Toronto for a discussion between Gerald McMaster, Wanda Nanibush and Charles Esche. The speakers will address questions surrounding decolonisation and sovereignty in the local context, and investigate the potentials and problems in connecting international and local questions of indigeneity.

Gerald McMaster is Canada Research Chair of Indigenous Visual Culture and Curatorial Practice at OCAD University.

Wanda Nanibush is an Anishinaabe-kwe image and word warrior, curator, community organizer from Beausoliel First Nation, and currently a guest curator at the Art Gallery of Ontario.

Charles Esche is director of the Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven; professor of contemporary art and curating at Central Saint Martins and editorial director and co-founder of Afterall Journal and Books with Mark Lewis.

The conversation will be moderated by Charles Stankievech, Director of Visual Studies at the Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design, University of Toronto.
