The Way Things Go (Der Lauf der Dinge, 1987) features a series of chain reactions involving ordinary objects. The film embodies many of the qualities that the work of Fischli and Weiss is known for: slapstick humour and profound insight; a forensic attention to detail; a sense of illusion and transformation; and a dynamic exchange between states of order and chaos.
Copies of the Afterall One Work book Fischli and Weiss: The Way Things Go by Jeremy Millar will be available on the night.
