Assembling Art Archives: Workshops for South Asia

Asia Art Archive in India, in collaboration with Art South Asia Project, hosts Assembling Art Archives: Workshops for South Asia, a closed-door online programme to facilitate discussions on archival practices in the field of visual arts across South Asia. On 11 March 2026, Afterall editors Wing Chan and David Morris will speak about their journeys of building artist’s archives for collaborative scholarship in the Exhibition Histories publications, Precarious Solidarities: Artists for Democracy 1974–77 (2023) and How to Pin Down Smoke: ruangrupa since 2000 (2025). They will be sharing the session with Ahmad Makia from Sharjah Art Foundation. The cohort consists of twenty archivists and researchers working within arts organisations based in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
