Artist, poet and playwright Sinzo Aanza presents his project The Improbable Memorial. It envisions an unconventional memorialisation of extractivism’s impact in the Congo, blending archaeological exhibition format with narrative fiction elements. It explores the paradox of modern technology, like mobile phones, rooted in the exploitation of Congo’s resources, challenging traditional victim narratives. Rejecting traditional commemorations, the project creates an imaginary space, incorporating diverse elements to craft a provocative memorial journey, ultimately manifesting as a virtual space for speculative scenarios.
