We are pleased to announce several opportunities to work with
the Afterall team at the King's Cross campus at Central Saint
Martins College of Arts and Design. Two part-time positions are
offered as maternity cover (below) and two more Editorial Assistant positions
are available as part-time fixed term contracts, which you can view
here. Please note the

Managing Editor (Maternity Cover > October 2012)
We're pleased to announce the availability of the position of
Managing Editor for the Exhibition Histories book
strand at Afterall. This position is available as maternity cover
until October 2012; it is based at Afterall's editorial office in
the new King's Cross campus of Central Saint Martins College of Art
and Design in London.
Job Description
In this role, you will have the chance to lead Afterall’s
Exhibition
Histories strand alongside a team of editors. Together, you
will present critical reflection on exhibitions of contemporary art
from the last 50 years that have changed the way that art is seen
and made.
Day-to-day, you will edit and manage the book series, which means
managing production schedules; commissioning texts; working with
designers and printers; and managing press and publicity. You will
also supervise an Editorial Assistant, suggest and co-ordinate
events and contribute to the development of the Afterall website
and fundraising activities. Your efforts will maintain the profile
of Afterall internationally and contribute to the affiliated
MRes Art:
Exhibition Studies pathway.
Your profile
To join us, you will need experience in book production;
specifically art publishing. You will be comfortable editing texts,
researching pictures, updating web material and organising
marketing and events. Broad knowledge of contemporary visual arts
and theory is essential, together with a firm grasp of Afterall’s
remit as a research and publishing organisation. We will also be
looking for initiative and the ability to manage budgets, present
information about contemporary art and handle e-book and print
on-demand production. Specialist knowledge of the history of
exhibitions would be ideal, together with a postgraduate
qualification (or equivalent).
Hours: 3 days (21 hours) per week

Lecturer, MRes Art: Exhibition Studies (Maternity Cover > October 2012)
We're pleased to announce the availability of the position of
part-time Lecturer for the MRes Art:
Exhibition Studies course offered at Central Saint Martins
College of Art and Design, in conjunction with Afterall. This
position is available as maternity cover until October 2012; it is
based at in the new King's Cross campus of Central Saint Martins
College of Art and Design in London.
Job description
You will have the chance to teach at Masters level on an exciting
new course in a fast-expanding discipline. The MRes Art:
Exhibition Studies course gives students the opportunity to
engage in art historical research from the perspective of
contemporary art exhibitions, their display and other curatorial
strategies. As a Lecturer, you will teach and provide students with
academic and pastoral support, while continuing your research in
the subject. We will expect you to contribute to curriculum
development; lesson planning; assessments; course review; and unit
management, while handling course-related administration. This role
also offers the opportunity to work with the internationally
respected research and publishing group, Afterall; specifically its
Exhibition Histories project.
Your profile
A postgraduate with a qualification in Fine Art, Art Theory, Art
History or similar, you have taught in the field of contemporary
art. You have wide knowledge of the subject as well as the ability
to act as a tutor. You are ready to support the Pathway Leader,
handle administration, build links with relevant external
organisations and work with other staff to give students an
outstanding education. Motivated and enthusiastic about your
subject and the new course, you will be up-to-date with the latest
developments in the field, and an expert on the history of
exhibitions.
Hours: 1 day (7 hours) per week
