Making Art Global (Part 1): London book launch with Rachel Weiss

Please join Afterall Books and Rachel Weiss for the London launch of the second title in the Exhibition Histories series, Making Art Global (Part I): The Third Havana Biennial 1989. Seats are limited!

Rachel Weiss is one of the book's central authors, and is currently Professor of Arts Administration and Policy, School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The London launch will take place following Rachel Weiss’s Fine Art Monday Lecture at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design on Monday 16 January, 6.30pm.

In this lecture, Rachel Weiss will discuss the development of the Bienal de La Habana as an institution, focusing on the geopolitics of the late 1980s and early 90s, and the emergence during those years of a global art network – one that was articulated not just from the North, but also, and polemically, from the Global South.

This event is a collaboration between Afterall, BA Fine ArtMRes Art: Exhibition Studies and CSM Research.

Seating is limited; to secure a place and celebrate the book with a glass of wine following the talk, please contact events@afterall.org. You will be sent a confirmation email with access details.
